We welcome overseas visitors and understand your time is precious. We want to provide you with as much information as possible to help you make the most of your time here in our beautiful County.
Merlin Farm in Cornwall is 4-5 hours by car or train (or just over an hour's flight to nearby Newquay Airport) from London Heathrow Airport .
Our Vacation Rentals are secluded in countryside and within a short walking distance (approx 15 mins) to the Beautiful Sandy Beach of Mawgan Porth. Mawgan Porth is centrally located within the County, ensuring that all sightseeing in Cornwall is accessible within a day trip.
Getting Here
From London Heathrow Airport you may wish to hire a car and stop off at a few places on the way to Cornwall.
Many people like to pass the ancient site of Stonehenge and/or stop at the Roman City of Bath, the Roman Baths there are well worth a visit.
You may wish to explore London first, in which case we would recommend taking the Heathrow Express in to the City.
You can purchase a BritRail Pass which includes the Express service as well as any other rail travel around London and even
the Night Riviera Sleeper Train to Cornwall.
From London Paddington Train Station we recommend taking a train to Bodmin Parkway Station (no stops) and arranging Car Hire from there.
Bodmin Car Hire operate 7 days a week and can meet you at the Station. Merlin Farm is approx. half an hour's drive from Bodmin Parkway Station.
Alternatively you may wish to take an internal Flight to Newquay Airport from Heathrow which is just over an hour. From Newquay Airport you can hire a car or we are just a few minutes away in a taxi. To get the most out of your stay and due to our rural location we would recommend hiring a car for the duration of your visit.

Merlin Farm Cottages is nothing short of magical!
I don't even know where to begin my rave review of Merlin Farm! From the moment I chose Merlin Farm for our trip to Cornwall, my positive experience began. This was our first trip to Cornwall and we had a lot of questions. Lucy and Darrel were very responsive, patient and helpful with me and I knew our family was in good hands. We pulled up to the property after a long flight and drive and were instantly taken aback by the breathtaking scenery and beautiful property. Our cottage was immaculate, modern, tasteful and had everything we needed. I could have just moved in! I loved the furnishings, the cool blue fridge, the textile patterns, the luxurious bathroom...everything about it! The children fell in love with the animals and quickly adopted a routine of feeding and petting the horses, donkey and chickens. They even got a certificate for learning to groom Horace the Donkey. The information provided in the cottage for outings and things to do in the area was extensive and so very helpful. We enjoyed the gorgeous walk through the woods to the tiny surfing town of Mawgan Porth - played on the huge beach, walked to caves, played mini golf and ate at the restaurant in town. The little grocery shop there also had everything we needed to stock our kitchen. We also enjoyed day trips to The Eden Project (highly recommend), the aquarium in Newquay, Padstow, and the charming village of St. Mawgan. The cottages are set up so nicely in that you aren't disturbed at all by others staying next to you, but you also can easily socialize if you desire. My favorite part of the Farm was sitting in our little courtyard looking out at the rolling hills. Having a slow morning or afternoon with no sight-seeing or adventure still felt very much like a holiday while being on the farm. I highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone going to Cornwall! Lovely getaway in excellent location
Thank you Lucy and Darrel, we have spent perfect 5 days in your cottage Porthcothan. The cottage is perfectly equipped. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and the opportunity to have dinner locations in walking distance.
