Nestled in peaceful countryside near Mawgan Porth Beach, Merlin Farm Holiday Cottages offers four converted farm barns in a beautiful corner of North Cornwall. Sleeping up to four guests each, our cottages provide a relaxing rural retreat and a central base for exploring Cornwall's beaches, coastal villages and popular attractions. With miles of countryside walks and the South West Coast Path from your doorstep, there's plenty to discover on foot. Each cottage has its own character. Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine enjoy uninterrupted views across the rolling countryside, while Trevone sits slightly apart, offering extra privacy, more space and a large, enclosed lawned garden.

Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine enjoy beautiful views across the rolling countryside, offering a lovely outlook to savour with your morning coffee.

 

Privacy & Seclusion
Prefer your own company and don't fancy bumping into anyone? Trevone is the one for you! If you're happy with the occasional neighbourly hello, Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine are thoughtfully staggered to avoid too much overlooking. You'll enjoy a good degree of privacy, especially once you're tucked up inside your own cosy cottage.

Outdoor Space

Trevone offers the largest outdoor space, with an enclosed lawned garden bordered by high hedges for added privacy, although this means sacrificing the countryside views. Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine each have a smaller, enclosed gravel courtyard with lovely views across the surrounding countryside.

Space to Spread Out
Trevone is our largest cottage, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax, although it has just one bathroom.

 

Who's coming along?

Little Ones

We provide all the essentials for little ones, including a travel cot, highchair, fireguard, baby bath and potty in every cottage. All bedrooms have space for a travel cot. Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine have a king bedroom downstairs and a twin upstairs, with stairgates fitted for extra peace of mind. Trevone is all on one level, with the king and twin bedrooms opposite each other.

Teenagers

If you are travelling with friends or teenagers you might appreciate an extra bathroom to avoid the morning queue! Porthcothan and Harlyn both have two bathrooms, while Constantine and Trevone have one.

​

Couples

All our cottages offer a cosy, peaceful retreat for two, with a reduced rate available when using just the king bedroom. Prefer a little extra space? You're welcome to use both bedrooms - simply select three guests when booking and enter ‘Blank’ as the third guest's name.

Four Legged Friends 

Up to two dogs are welcome in Trevone, Harlyn and Porthcothan, although we're unable to accommodate dogs in Constantine. Please note that dogs aren't permitted in any cottage between 23 July and 19 August 2027. Additional charges apply and dogs must not be left alone in the cottages.

Trevone is our top pick for dog owners, with its large enclosed lawned garden offering plenty of space for your four-legged friend to stretch their legs. Harlyn and Porthcothan each have a smaller, enclosed gravel courtyard, while miles of beautiful countryside walks start right from our doorstep. With the coast and Mawgan Porth Beach nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for walkies, fresh sea air and adventures together. 

 

Multiple Families/Friends

Planning a holiday with family or friends but still want a little space and privacy? Merlin Farm offers the best of both worlds. Our three neighbouring cottages, Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine, sit side by side, with a fourth cottage, Trevone, tucked just behind, sleeping an additional four guests. Two more guests can stay in a cosy Shepherd’s Hut at Hidden Glamping, just a minute’s walk away. Together, the four cottages and Shepherd’s Hut can accommodate up to 18 guests, making it easy to bring everyone together while still enjoying your own space to relax and unwind.

 

What facilities are important?

Two Bathrooms

Harlyn and Porthcothan each have a ground floor bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower, plus an ensuite shower room in the upstairs twin bedroom. Constantine has a ground floor bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower, along with an additional ensuite toilet in the upstairs twin bedroom. Trevone has one bathroom with both a bath and walk-in shower.

Ground Floor Bedrooms

All cottages have a ground floor King bedroom. a second twin room is upstairs in Harlyn, Porthcothan and Constantine.

Single Level Living

Everything is on one floor in Trevone.
